Obituary for Shirley Annette Lanham

Mrs. Shirley Annette Lanham, age 83 of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020. She was born June 16, 1936 in Douglas County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Reese Swanson and the late Mrs. Thelma Smallwood. Mrs. Lanham was a member of New Brooklyn Baptist Church in Temple, Georgia since childhood but attended True Vine in Villa Rica, Georgia regularly until her health began to decline. She loved all her family, loved life and she loved her church and missed it greatly. She enjoyed cooking in her earlier years, liked to sew and make clothes for her family. She also liked to crochet, loved flowers, shopping at the Dollar General, loved her game shows and was fascinated with Snowmen and Butterflies. She was always thinking of others by sending cards to those who were ill, needed comfort or just to brighten someone’s day. She retired from Vince Hosiery Mill with 30 years of service and enjoyed her job very much.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brothers, Gary, Pete and Elwyn Swanson; sister, Gloria Jean Swanson.
Mrs. Lanham is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Melinda Agan of Villa Rica, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Corky Addison of Bremen, Georgia; grandchildren, Amy Bearden of Bremen, Georgia, Holly and TJ Pace of Temple, Georgia, Hillary and Derek Bailey of Villa Rica, Georgia; great grandchildren, Alex Bearden, Jack Bearden, Ayda Bailey, Rylee Bailey, Caila Pace, Aydin Pace, Tyler and Courtney Pace.

Miss Wanda, Bro. Corky, Melanie would like you to know just how very sorry we are for the passing of your mother/mother-in-law. We know given the current Social & Medical climate in our country today the passing of Miss Shirley is even more painful because the way you are allowed to mourn is constrained. I know I find comfort in the hugs and affection that are shared during a normal funeral. Therefore, please know Melanie and I are sending you our love and affection through our email. I am encouraged to read your mother loved the Lord during her time on earth and she lived out her love in her life. We know just how important it is to have this knowledge and have been able to see, first hand, our loved one living out their faith in their daily walk with the Lord. We hope and pray you are able to be comforted from the love and words people are sending you during this incredibly difficult and trying time right now during the pandemic. I know we will, someday, think back on this time and it will have only been a spec of time no longer than a grain of sand is big. We love you both and will be praying over you. Sincerely, Craig & Melanie Starkey
