Obituary For Marvin Dale Wettstein

Marvin Dale Wettstein, age 74, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away at his home on March 28, 2021 from natural causes with his wife at his side. He was born July 23, 1946 to John and Caroline Wettstein of Eureka, Illinois, the 11th of 12 children.

Marvin married JoEllen Dillow of Pekin, Illinois on December 3, 1966. He purchased the “homeplace” from his father and farmed for nearly 40 years, raising five children. Marvin was a member of the Eureka Jaycees, served on the Eureka community district #140 school board for 12 years, and was a founding member of the St. Luke’s Catholic Church, also in Eureka. After retiring from farming in 2003, he and JoEllen moved to Dallas, Georgia. Mr. Wettstein enjoyed woodworking and was a Chicago Bears and Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wettstein was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy (Ralph) Washer and Caroline (Ken) Bucher and his brothers, Donald (Betty) Wettstein, Loren (Della) Wettstein, John (Mary) Wettstein Jr. and Glenn Wettstein.
He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, JoEllen Dillow Wettstein of Villa Rica; his children, Richard John (Lisa) Wettstein of Newnan, Georgia, Elizabeth Jane (Jeff) Kyle of Winston, Georgia, Marvin Paul (Angie) Wettstein of Wentzville, Missouri, Adam Thomas (Stephanie) Wettstein of Normal, Illinois and Megan Jo (Mike) Berlett of Richmond Hill, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, Savannah, Alleigh, Jacob, Madelynn, Taylor, Morgan, Pyper, Addison, Abigail, Brady, Emma, and Ian; 5 great-grandchilren, Cason, McKenna, Maverick, Maddyn Layne, and Addie; his sisters, Marjorie Glover and Barbara (Norm) Ricketts, and brothers, Vernon (Judy) Wettstein, Wayne (Alice) Wettstein and Norman (Terry) Wettstein.
The family will receive friends at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Carrollton, Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 1:30PM until 2:15PM. Funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 2:30PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Carrollton with Father Gaurav Shroff officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Cemetery.
