Obituary for James “Jim” Louis Fagas

Mr. James Louis Fagas, age 74 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020. He was born June 19, 1946 in Wilson, North Carolina the son of the late Mr. Lambros Demetrius Fagas and the late Mrs. Minnie Almeta Coley Fagas. Mr. Fagas proudly served his country in the United States Marines Corp. He was very patriotic and unashamed of his Love for his country. Fishing was his passion. He was a founding member of the Tri-County Bass Club. Mr. Fagas was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Fagas.
Mr. Fagas is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Sandra Lee Woodall Fagas of Douglasville, Georgia; daughters and sons-in-laws, Sonia Fagas and Charlie Ball of Lindale, Georgia, Lisa and Anthony Reese of Bremen, Georgia, Helena and Jonathan Hazelwood of Bremen, Georgia; sisters and brother-in-law, Helen and Lenwood Mercer of Kinston, North Carolina, Kay Bradbury of Longs, South Carolina; thirteen grandchildren, Alyssa Bailey, Miranda Bailey, Tyler and Jessica Fagas, Madison McIntyre, Savannah McElwaney, Jimmy and Joshua Reese, John Goulet, Briar Ball, Karlia Ball, Shawnna Ball, Shelbie Ball; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
According to Mr. Fagas’ wishes, he was cremated. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 4:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville with Rev. Ikey Watson and friend, Billy Seabrook, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to U.S. Marine Toys for Tots at www.toysfortots.org.

I’m so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I worked with him at CCBOH. There was not a finer man than Jim Fagas. My condolences to the family. We all lost a great guy.

My brother Jim he was more than just a brother he Was My best friend he was my hero .I know I could always depend on him.I know he would always be there when I called on him he was always Have my back.We always took up for each other.I love him my whole life.I was proud of him when he graduated from basic training from the marine corp.But he broke my heart when he left for Vietnam.He was gone for so long.Mom and dad try to hide it from me when he got shot.But I found out and it hurts so much.When he came home and I was so proud of him.But was not long After he came home We lost our little brother Ricky.He came Home soon as he could and Jim was there for me and the family.He have my back and I know he always be there.We didn’t have much but we had each other . we had a great aunt And uncle . We stay with When we were out of school. We work hard on the farm all summer. Jim and me In our sister Helen Had a lot of fun And we had Very much Love from our aunt and uncle.When jim met His lovely wife Sandra they had 3 beautiful girls.Sander his wife was the greatest love of his life and his 3 girls and all his grandchildren. They all knew they were love and pops with always be there for them.I knew anytime I call on Sonia the oldest daughter she would be there to have Everyone’s back.Jim was so love by everyone And everyone loves him always. Our families were also closed and even though we live so far apart we Always so very close. Your Sister Kay And her family
