Obituary for Helen Cheek
Mrs. Helen Gibson Cheek, age 98 of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away from this life on Sunday, July 21, 2019. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 10, 1920, the daughter of the late Frank and Mae Gibson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Dee Cheek of Douglasville, Georgia; son, Robert L. Corky Cheek of Winston, Georgia; grandson, Kevin Cheek of Winston, Georgia; granddaughter, Karyn Cheek Crook of Winston, Georgia; sister, Jaunita Carroll of College Park, Georgia; brother, Marion Jock Gibson of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Lowell Gibson of Griffin, Georgia. Mrs. Cheek is survived by son, Travis Cheek of Douglasville, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cheek of Winston, Georgia; granddaughter, Kelly Anne Cheek Faver and Jerry Faver of Carrollton, Georgia; three great granddaughters, Ashley and Collin Martin of Winston, Georgia, Laura and Bradley Barlow of Winston, Georgia, Sarah Faver of Winston, Georgia; one great grandson, Jackson Crook of Winston, Georgia; one great great granddaughter, Hope Elizabeth Martin; sister, Lois Goodwin of Bethlehem, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Mary Nell Cheek of Douglasville, Georgia and Retha Gibson of Griffin, Georgia The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville with Rev. Jerry Faver and Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Southwest Christian Hospice; 7225 Lester Road; Union City, Georgia 30291.
