Obituary for Vivian Cranford
Mrs. Vivian Irene Smith Cranford, age 90, of Lithia Springs, passed away, Tuesday, October 21, 2014. She was born February 10, 1924 in Atlanta, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. James Wyatt Smith and the late Mrs. Lettie Lee Davison Smith. Mrs. Cranford retired from Lithia Springs Elementary School after 34 years of teaching. She was Douglas County Schools first Teacher of the Year. She was a Girl Scout Leader for Troop 1282 and a member of the Douglas County Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Cranford was a member of First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs and taught Sunday School for 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Cranford; sons, James Douglas Cranford, David Earl Cranford and Darrel Reid Cranford; brothers, Herschel Smith, S.T. Smith and James Thad Smith. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wylette and Wendell Green of Wedowee, AL; sister, Betty Jean Holtzclaw of Douglasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Preston and Tommy Kay Smith of Ft. Valley, Harold and Georgia Mae Smith of Temple; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, October 24, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Mrs. Cranford will lie in state from 9:30 AM until funeral hour at First Baptist Church in Lithia Springs. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of First Baptist Church in Lithia Springs with Dr. Marion Beaver, Rev. Mike Sinyard and Rev. Kevin McKoy officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
