Mr. Winard Frank Strickland, Sr., age 68, of Thomas Dorsey Drive, Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica. He was born November 7, 1941 in Douglasville, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Buford Winard Strickland, Sr. and the late Mrs. Myrtice Norris Strickland. He worked as a Stone Mason. He was a pet lover and especially loved his dog, Bocephus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Lee Strickland and sister, Dianne Boller.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Victor Keadle of Griffin; two sons, Winard Frank Strickland, Jr. and Barry Strickland both of Villa Rica; sister, Shirley Adams of Villa Rica; brothers and sisters-in-law, Buford W. Strickland, Jr. of Villa Rica, Douglas and Nancy Strickland of Carrollton, and Johnny and Debbie Strickland of Villa Rica; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor A.J. Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica. The following will serve as pallbearers: Steven Strickland, Freddy Strickland, Stanley Strickland, William “Peewee” Strickland, Christopher Strickland, and Matthew Gilleland. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica, Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
