Mr. William “Bill” Henry Copenhaver, Jr., age 67, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009. He was born December 29, 1941 in Chilhowie, Virginia the son of the late Mr. William “Bill” Henry Copenhaver, Sr. and the late Mrs. Rosamond “Peg” Jones Copenhaver. He was a Christian and worked in accounting and then in the intermodal department for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and shopping. He was a fun loving and energetic man who loved people. He was a wonderful Papa to his beloved granddaughters. His Virginia friends and family lovingly called him “Bud”.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Jean Hyek Copenhaver of Douglasville; daughters and son-in-law, Angela Hyek McGee and her husband, Mark, Sara Millett and Lindsay Millett all of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Bill Martin of Virginia; brother, John Copenhaver of Abingdon, Virginia; two granddaughters, Alyssa McGee and Avery McGee; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Anne Hyek; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 7:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Celebrant Glenn Gilmore officiating. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 4:00 PM until the funeral hour.
